New year, new EVERYTHING

One day I will stop absent-mindedly creating blogs because I think I should, and I will create one because I feel I have something important to say. I just find the whole concept of 'It's like a diary - but it has to have a THEME' quite difficult. So I am hoping the blog will find its own theme in its own time, and for now I will just write some random rambles.

Things that have happened this year:
1. I quit my job!
Well, two actually. Two jobs in 24 hours. *high 5!* With nothing else lined up. *What the-?? Retracted high-5!*
I know, I know. Bit crazy. But I had just been down for SO LONG about work. And my advice to people who are depressed about something is to 'make tangible changes.' And I am not someone who makes rash decisions, but I am also not someone to wallow in their own problems. So I took my own advice, handed in notice (freaked out a bit) and applied to EVERY office temp agency in Edinburgh. Lo and behold within a few days one got back to me (THANK FUCK). So hopefully next month I will start office temping. It's not amazing but I will have my evenings and weekends FREEEEEEEEEEEEE! I am too happy to be worried about the future. And if that's not a good sign then I don't know what is.

2. Rosie and Dougie are engaged!
We thought we were going round for drinks and dinner as Linnea was over visiting. But when we arrived they announced that completely out of the blue they'd got engaged over dessert in a very tasty steak restaurant. Thus ensued so much screaming, crying, hugging and general nattering that only the announcement that the three of us are to be bridesmaids could have topped it. Within ten minutes we had our dresses picked and had started planning impromptu speeches. You know how it is.

3. My sister is getting married!
Our family is not massive, so we don't all get together very often. And I know everyone's family is a bit fucked up, but sometimes I think that our is just a bit like WOAH. But I'll save all that backstory for when I have my good friend Valpolicella (google it) with me for moral support. Her hen party is next weekend, and I have unwittingly ended up organising most of it. Vintage makeovers. Karaoke. ChopChop. CAN NOT WAIT. And then there's the wedding... I feel that's going to need a whole blog of it's own.

4. I will visit Claire in Brighton!
It's been nearly two years since me and my other half, the Garth to my Wayne, the Little to my Large and the  Bob to my Vic have run around town skinning our knees, making up silly songs, eating ice lollies and laughed about amazing we are. In my book that's far too long, and I am off to visit her in sunny Brighton on March 1st, which also involves me getting a plane on my own, which I am also oddly excited about. Woop!

5. I have a driving lesson!
This is not quite as exciting as all the other things but my voucher for 3 hours driving lessons is finally getting redeemed, and as far as I am concerned is another gold star on my 'getting my shit together like a proper grown-up' chart.
